More About Me

Writing & Journalism

As a journalist, I’ve covered the future of aviation, astronautics, and technology. My writing aims to make these topics accessible to the public regardless of the reader’s educational or professional background. I also believe the media plays a large role in any movement towards diversity and inclusion, and in 2019, I was awarded a Wogrammer Journalism Fellowship with AnitaB.org to support my efforts to increase the visibility of female scientists and engineers. My writing has appeared in Forbes, Mic, Wogrammer, and Space Times.

Engineering

As an engineer, I’ve had the privilege of building and operating many systems used for aviation and human spaceflight. Most recently, I was a member of SpaceX’s Mission Management team, where I led cargo integration and NASA certification activities for the first crewed flight of the Dragon 2 spacecraft. Prior to working at SpaceX, I held positions at Boeing and NASA, and also attended the International Space University’s Space Studies Program on a merit scholarship from the American Astronautical Society. In 2017, I was recognized as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 for my contributions to the field.

STEM Education & Outreach

My work as a STEM educator dates back to 2012, when as only an undergraduate senior I was hired to teach AP Computer Science at the Dana Hall School. As a practicing engineer, I have continued this outreach work on a voluntary basis as a STEM mentor with the Society of Women Engineers and as the USA National Point of Contact for the Space Generation Advisory Council. I also frequently volunteer as a guest speaker and STEM workshop facilitator with local schools and educational organizations.
